Artist Statement

​

     Joanne is a dedicated wildlife artist from Canada who finds inspiration in the great outdoors, engaging in activities such as running, hiking, cycling, and kayaking. Living in remote in Ontario, Alberta, and Quebec has enhanced her appreciation for nature, motivating her to capture the intricate landscapes of her subjects with rich colors, textures, and details. As she travels across Canada, she is captivated by the diverse beauty of the scenery and wildlife, which she skillfully expresses in her artwork. Although proficient in various mediums, Joanne favors acrylic for its versatility, enabling her to create breathtaking wildlife portraits that showcase the beauty of her subjects through careful exploration of color and texture.

            

Biography

  Joanne is a Canadian artist living in Temiscaming, Quebec where she pursues her artistic practice through freelance work  as well as  teaching art in the community and local high schools.  Joanne grew up in Quebec graduating from McGill University in physiotherapy, practicing her profession for many years in smaller communities in Canada.  It was living in these  smaller communities that instilled in her a love of nature and wildlife which laid down the foundation  for her artistic journey. Off and on, the brush was put aside to focus on family, but finally in 2012 Joanne was able to put her energy into developing her practice.  This opened up the door to teaching art in the local high schools, window painting projects,  murals and creating her own Paint Nite style events.  Her work has been juried into art exhibits through the Federation of Canadian Artists and the Society of Canadian Artists. Her artwork has been published in  Ann Kullberg's books CP Hidden Treasures 2, 3,4 and 5 and has donned the cover of the Federation Of Canadian Artists 2018 calendar. Joanne continues to develop her skills in rendering wildlife and nature in a variety of styles from realism to  a more contemporary style and through these images  she hopes to bring attention to the beauty of nature and our precious wildlife.
